CENTRIST PARTY STATEMENT ON BUDGET 2024
The Budget 2024 presented by the Liberal government depends heavily on the borrowed money. Since Liberals took power in 2015, they have borrowed more money in 8 years than all previous Canadian governments combined. This has doubled the national debt and lead to very high interest payments – last year over $46 billion and this year over $54 billion.
The capital tax of this new budget is targeting those who invest in Canadian ventures, which helps to create jobs and productivity. Taking productive capital away from these investors and entrepreneurs will drive them not to invest in Canada.
The government is adding another $39.8 billion in debt, as they lose over $54 billion in interest payments. The government needs to reflect that what kind of future will be created by continuing to borrow money and taxing the investors instead of cutting their reckless spending. The Centrist Party of Canada does not believe that Budget 2024 represents fairness for every generation.
