To become a candidate for Member of Parliament (MP) in the next federal elections, you should start planning as early as possible. You may run from any federal riding, as you do not have to live in the same riding you want to run. Connecting with local community leaders, attending various events, and volunteering for various non-profit and charitable organizations are all valuable ways to give back to your community.
After you decide to run in the upcoming federal election, you should download the candidate application forms from the Elections Canada website http://www.election.ca. You will need to obtain 100 signatures with postal addresses from 100 constituents who are voters and live in the riding where you are planning to run. You should try to get little more than 100 signatures in case some are not legible or have any mistakes, which may delay your application. You will submit this application with the required signatures to Elections Canada after the date of the election is announced. Elections Canada will need to verify the signatures of at least 100 constituents who live in your riding before you are confirmed to become a candidate from that riding. Becoming a member of the Centrist Party, getting involved with the local Electoral District Association, and volunteering for the Centrist Party will significantly help in the process of being a candidate. Contacting the nomination board of the Centrist Party at contact@centristcanada.ca as soon as possible is also important.
