Centrist Party Statement on Allegations of Sexual Misconduct Against Gen. Vance

Centrist Party takes allegations of sexual misconduct very seriously. Centrist Canadians are asking for a full investigation of allegations of sexual misconduct against General Vance. We believe that victims deserve complete justice, while an announcement of another review of the military’s culture would not bring much change.

Former Prime Minister Stephen Harper appointed General Vance in July 2015 when Mr. Erin O’Toole was Minister of Veteran Affairs. At the time, General Vance was under active investigation by the Canadian Forces National Investigation Service. This raises several critical questions,

What role did Mr. O’Toole and Mr. Harper play in the investigation of these allegations of sexual misconduct?
When General Vance was appointed, why were the investigations suddenly dropped?
Did the military police recommend ending the investigations immediately upon his appointment?
Was the Commanding officer under pressure to end the probe?
Who was putting pressure to end this probe?

Centrist Canadians are seeking a thorough investigation involving Mr. Erin O’Toole, Stephen Harper, as well as Minister Sajjan & PMO of Mr. Trudeau. Canadians deserve to know what role previous Conservative and current Liberal governments have in the investigation of these serious allegations.
