Family Values and Parental Rights

Strengthening Families

The family is the foundation of a strong Canadian society. It provides structure, support, and values that sustain our communities across generations.

–          A committed marital relationship forms the basis of a stable home.

–          Children thrive in a secure and loving household with parents who guide them toward maturity and responsibility.

–          Families ensure the continuation of cultural, ethical, and moral values from generation to generation.

Traditional Understanding of Marriage

Marriage is understood as the exclusive union of one biological man and one biological woman in a committed marital relationship.

–          This traditional commitment provides the most stable foundation for raising children.

–          Throughout the human history, men and women have joined together in marriage to create secure and nurturing environments for their families.

–          A strong marriage ensures community stability and intergenerational continuity.

The legal definition of marriage should reflect and uphold these traditional values.

Parental Authority and Responsibility

Parents play a primary role in shaping child’s emotional, physical, and moral development.

–          Parents have the fundamental right to educate and guide their children.

–          While academic instruction may be shared with educators, parents should retain full authority over their child’s overall development.

–          Schools and institutions must respect parental authority and work collaboratively with parents to ensure transparency and cooperation.

Parental Rights and Limited Government Intervention

The Centrist Party believes that state’s role in family life must ensure resources are available without overriding parental rights.

–          The state should never assume decision-making power over parents in children’s moral, personal, and/ or medical matters.

–          Parents must be fully informed about any concerns raised regarding their children in educational settings.

Commitment to Family and Parental Rights

Centrist Party’s mandate is to ensure family stability and autonomy:

–          Protecting parental rights through clear legislative safeguards.

–          Upholding the traditional definition of marriage as between one biological man and one biological woman.

–          Limiting state’s intervention in family affairs while ensuring child safety.

–          Providing economic policies that empower parents to choose home-based childcare without excessive financial burden.
